‘Kommersant’ announced that according to the estimate of Central Election Commission (CEC), the cost of 2016 Duma Elections will amount to approximately 15 billion rubles.
On October 14, CEC members unanimously approved the estimated election budget of 14.745 billion rubles.
According to the CEC secretary Nikolai Konkin, the cost of the upcoming elections is estimated considering the budget of the 2011 Elections.
The total estimated budget is twice the amount four years ago. In 2011, the State allocated 7 billion rubles for the Elections to the State Duma. CEC also plans to upgrade the SAS ‘Elections’ and to raise salaries of election commissions’ members. The newspaper notes that only 10.4 billion rubles from the State budget drafted by the Ministry of Finance are allocated for the Elections.
