The Central Election Commission has appointed Andrei Buzin, who is an expert in election law, co-chairman of the board of ‘Golos’ movement, as the head of advisory group to advice the chairperson of Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova. The decision was published on the CEC website.

The panel was established to advice the Central Election Commission on regulatory issues, to work on proposals for developing the electoral legislation of Russia, as well as to provide analytical support to the CEC chairman.

The board co-chair of ‘Golos’ movement Grigory Melkonyants: "It was a graceful decision. Earlier on the CEC of Russia had established a large-scale non-governmental scientific advisory board, which, at best, was meeting once a year. It had no additional value. The new CEC approach suggests that the advisory group has been established to provide dynamic and prompt advice and, in addition, to serve as a larger scale non-governmental panel on developing new approaches and solutions for improving the electoral system."
